Role of the Venue

For the mobile unit to work effectively, it needs to be in partnership between the Clinical Skills Managed Educational Network, local venues and the HBs responsible for staff development. A person to act as a ‘Host’ for the visit is identified by the venue and this host is the first point of liaison with the CS MEN office. The host identifies where the unit should be located, organises practical aspects of the visit (advertising the programme and taking bookings, having the unit cleaned and bins empted, making sure it’s set out appropriately for each skill, taking care of the keys and security, health and safety, working with others at the venue to identify the programme etc). A guide for hosts/potential hosts is available to download or by email from MENoffice@dundee.ac.uk.

NHS Education for Scotland are funding the logistics of transporting the unit until 31 March 2011. However the project does not have a budget for consumables or back-filling staff. Staff costs incurred in using the unit need to be met locally.

A form to request a visit of the unit, or to use the unit to deliver a particular course is available to download or by email from MENoffice@dundee.ac.uk.
